On the 26 of November, Klaipėda Science and Technology Park initiated a meeting, dedicated to discussing the efficiency of biomass logistics chain through new technological solutions and business models. The event was organized in the framework of the Connect2SmallPorts project and brought together representatives from different industries, science institutions, Klaipėda State Seaport Authority, other organizations. Trending topic also attracted businesses operating in Belarus.
Meeting provided an open platform to talk over different aspects of the subject and share ideas about innovations that would enable stronger competitive advantages. Speakers emphasized the creation of higher added value enabling efficient use of biomass by converting these resources into biogas, synthetic gas, hydrogen.
SGS Klaipėda Ltd representatives gave a presentation on biomass certification aspects, guests from the Lithuanian Energy Institute introduced a topic about biomass utilization in advanced energy production technologies, various types of biofuel properties, research, testing, and certification.
Technological solutions for biomass transportation were discussed by delegates from the Inland Waterways Directorate and Vilnius Locomotive Repair Depot. Representatives of Klaipeda Science and Technology Park, Lithuanian Biomass Energy Association and Lithuanian Energy Institute shared their ideas about business models and technological solutions that would create new business and infrastructure in the field of bioenergy.
