SUMMARY:GreenMare Conference takes place at Online Exhibition InterMarE
DESCRIPTION:The search for pro-ecological solutions in all areas of our lives has become an urgent need of the moment. Maritime transport now faces major challenges in halving greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. This is a major challenge. \nAt 20th of April 2021\, the conference will start at 09:00 CET with opening speeches by representatives of the Norwegian Ambassador in Poland\, SeaEurope and DNV. Also remarkable\, in the evening the so-called Salmon Event is scheduled as interactive music and food session. \nThe idea of the GREENMARE conference was born out of the need to discuss this issue and is intended as a forum for the exchange of ideas and experience between representatives of the shipbuilding industry\, including shipyards and design offices\, propulsion manufacturers\, national and European administrations\, classification societes and financial institutions. \nMany experts in our industry have doubts as to whether we are prepared for this\, since political decisions have far exceeded technical and financial possibilities. Gdańsk and the entire Pomerania have very close economic ties with Norway\, which is a leading country in introducing ecological innovations in the maritime transport. The conference on environmental challenges that all the Baltic countries must face will tighten these mutually beneficial links and bring them even closer and closer. \nThe registration will start at 17th of March on InterMarE website.

SUMMARY:InterMarE South Baltic
DESCRIPTION:InterMarE South Baltic will be held on 20–22 April 2021\n \nThe safety and comfort of our exhibitors\, visitors and co-organisers are our utmost priority \nThe facts known to the organisers\, the due consideration of the unforeseen circumstances and the information provided to us in many direct communications have confirmed our conviction that holding the exhibitions as planned\, on 22–24 June 2020\, would place the health of us all at immediate risk and put into question the accomplishing of the business objectives of the events’ stakeholders. \nThis is why\, due to the sanitary concerns related to Covid-19 and the uncertainty of further developments in the epidemic\, the Management Board of the MTG SA Gdańsk International Fair Co. has decided to postpone the dates of the InterMarE South Baltic Maritime Economy Exhibition to 20–22 April 2021. \nWe are counting on your understanding and acceptance of the decision to reschedule\, and that you will confirm this by your presence at the InterMarE in April next year\, where we very much look forward to seeing you. \nWe are convinced that\, held on the new dates (20–22 April 2021)\, InterMarE will be significant event dedicated to maritime economy in Poland\, in the Southern Baltic Region and in Europe as a whole. \nIn the same time will be organise the 16th Balt Military Expo Baltic Military Fair dedicated to defence and security at sea and on shore. \nWe look forward to having you in Gdańsk\, \nThe Management Board\nMTG SA Gdańsk International Fair Co.

SUMMARY:Hackathon “Portathon Baltic 2020”
DESCRIPTION:Will not be limited to Klaipėda: the Hackathon “Portathon Baltic” Expands its Geography \nKlaipėda will once again invite to create advanced solutions for the ports of today and the future. The hackathon “Portathon Baltic 2020” organised for the second time will bring together the teams of companies\, innovators and start-ups from Lithuania and abroad. The event will take place on the 25th-27th of September in virtual platform as well\, providing opportunity for an even larger group of enthusiasts to participate. \n80 participants from 4 countries – Lithuania\, the Netherlands\, Sweden and Germany – were accepted in the hackathon last year. In 48 hours they generated 18 solutions applicable in the logistics sector by automating and digitalising port terminal equipment and various processes as well as developing smart transport ecosystems. \nKlaipėda Science and Technology Park (KSTP) organised the event\, which took place in the Lithuanian port city for the first time\, together with Klaipėda State Seaport Authority which supported the idea as well as with the companies belonging to the Lithuanian Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) cluster\, and the Science\, Innovation and Technology Agency. \nThis year\, the Lithuanian maritime cluster\, organisation “Gdansk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area” and business incubator “Starter”  are joining the ranks of partners. “Portathon Baltic 2020” has also secured the support from 3 international projects – “Smart Up BSR”\, “Secmar” and “Connect 2 Small Ports”. \nAccording to the development manager of KSTP\, Andrius Sutnikas\, open and compelling format of the hackathon last year became a powerful incentive for companies\, students\, teachers and start-ups gathered in teams not only to fight for prizes and the attention of potential investors\, but also to demonstrate the ambitions and the potential of Klaipėda.\n \n“In its economic development strategy “Klaipėda 2030”\, the city has established the goal of focusing on the sustainable use of marine resources\, strengthening of competencies relevant to the advanced industry\, and the development of innovative technologies. The hackathon “Portathon Baltic 2020” proves that all of this is not just a fancy declaration – we have both the enthusiasm and strong minds capable of generating valuable content that can serve business. So it is no coincidence that the initiative attracted the attention of new solid partners” – stressed A. Sutnikas. \nTeam registration is already open: bit.ly/Portathon2020Registration. As last year\, participation in the event is free. Companies will be invited to delegate their representatives to the event\, individual start-ups\, specialists\, engineering students and IT students can also form teams and together strive to achieve a common goal. \nCurrently\, port companies and other organisations are invited to offer their challenges to the organisers which will determine the nature of future solutions. “The hackathon provides a unique opportunity to take new perspectives on business-related issues\, transforming challenges into new opportunities. Given that this year there are even two physical locations and an online platform\, it will bring together several times more participants than last year and innovative solutions will be generated much more intensively. It is worth taking advantage of” – suggested A. Sutnikas. \nThe range of challenges of “Portathon 2020” will include the fields of digitisation in the logistics sector\, automated port equipment\, digitisation of port terminals\, smart transport ecosystems as well as new and relevant topic of cyber security in the maritime sector. The challenges related to these fields can be formed and submitted by e-mail projects@kmtp.lt until the 21st  of August. \nThe solid prizes will await the teams that generate the most interesting solutions to solve problems relevant to business\, ports and port cities. Last year their fund amounted to 4 thousand euros.
